Blount County Sheriff's Office Cathy Knouff Retirement

052e

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong and our deputies said goodbye today to one of our long-time employees. Cathy Knouff, who served Blount County for 34 years retired in June. Today, with deputies and several members of her family present, we showered her with love, cake, and a few parting gifts at her retirement party.

Cathy Knouff began her career with Blount County Government in the accounting department in 1987 and remained in that position until 1999 when Sheriff  Berrong hired her as an administrative professional for the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force.  She has remained in that position for the past 23 years, dedicating her time and effort to assure a smooth operation of the office.

Not only was Cathy a dedicated servant to the citizens of Blount County, she served our country with pride. She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1975 as a missile maintenance specialist in Montana. Following the end of her active duty, she transferred to the Air National Guard, serving in guard units in Texas and Tennessee and retired as a Master Sergeant from the 228th Combat Comm Squadron at McGhee Tyson Airbase in March 2012. Cathy deployed multiple times during her years of service, including three tours in the Middle East.

During her law enforcement and military career, Cathy also raised a beautiful family. We are so happy that she'll get to spend more time with them as well as traveling and enjoying life.

Congratulations, Cathy!! We are so happy for you. Please don't be a stranger!
