The USA South recognized Bryson Rollins and Jacob Berven for their play in Saturday's 45-7 victory at Southern Virginia.
Rollins earned Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after he completed 17-of-22 passing for 241 yards and a season-high four touchdowns against just one interception. The 77.3 completion percentage also was a season-best, and he ran in a 19-yard score to account for five touchdowns for the first time as a collegian.
The Elizabethton native leads all freshmen in the nation in both passing yards per game at 244.1, and points responsible for per game at 19.7. The latter category is not even close, with Marc Murphy from Massachusetts Maritime standing second at 13.0. Rollins is first nationally among first-years for passing touchdowns with 17.
Berven picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors after recovering a bad punt snap in the end zone for a touchdown in Saturday's game. The Oak Ridge rookie also contributed a tackle on special teams and punted one time for 40 yards, a ball his teammates downed at the SVU 4-yard line.
Berven is Maryville's special teams tackle leader with nine.
The Scots, now 3-1 in the USA South (3-4 overall) and tied for third place, are back in action Saturday for Homecoming against North Carolina Wesleyan. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
