The University Of The South Football Lands Seven on All-SAA Team

Announced by the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) on Tuesday, seven football student-athletes were named to the All-SAA Team.

Nominated and voted on by the head coaches, Michael McGhee was listed to the Second Team, while Keegan Glaze, Jack Hummel, Quinn Johnson, Zion Morris, Zac Rogers and Kaleb Seay were named Honorable Mention.

McGhee, a senior from Chattanooga, Tenn., finished second in rushing yards in the league with 812. He became the second Sewanee player to rush for more than 200 yards in a game since 2012 with a 241-yard performance against Millsaps.

Averaging 5.3 yards per carry, McGhee scored seven touchdowns.

Glaze, a sophomore from Nashville, Tenn., picks up his second All-SAA selection in as many seasons. His 69 tackles were good for fourth-best in the SAA, and he also forced two fumbles and had three tackles for a loss.

Hummel, a senior from Louisville, Ky., started all 10 games for Sewanee on the offensive line in 2022. He was primarily at left tackle for the Tigres.

Johnson, a senior from Dothan, Ala., finished tied for second in the conference in tackles for a loss, totaling 16.0, with 13 solo efforts. Averaging 1.6 TFL per game, he finished 31st in the country in the category. Additionally, his 80 stops were second-best in the SAA.

On fumbles, Johnson forced out two during the 2022 season. However, he is one of six players to lead the country in fumble recoveries with four.

Morris, a freshman from Nashville, Tenn., recorded 42 tackles, 5.5 for a loss, and two sacks in his first year on the defensive line for Sewanee.

Rogers, a senior from Portland, Tenn., played all four seasons on the offensive line for the Tigers. Playing in each game over the last two seasons, he played as a right guard.

Seay, a junior from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., defended seven passes and caught two of them for interceptions. One of his interceptions came at Centre on Oct. 8, where he ran it back 23 yards for a pick six. Recording 40 tackles on the year, he also had four for a loss.
