Sheriff James Lee Berrong extends his thanks to everyone who attended the ceremony at the Blount County Justice Center today for the lighting of the Christmas tree which memorializes those who died as a result of drug overdose. Families and friends of these victims placed personal ornaments on the tree in remembrance of their loved ones, and to remind others who may be struggling from addiction that there is hope.
Sheriff Berrong remains steadfast in his fight to halt the flow of these dangerous drugs into Blount County, and through the works of the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force, hunt down and hold those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.
Sheriff Berrong extends a special thanks to organizers Tim Webb and Jan McCoy, both of whom have lost loved ones to overdose.
