Jackson Garner | Maryville College
A college basketball starting lineup seems to be agreeing with Maryville's Jackson Garner.
The first-year guard scored 25 points in his second collegiate start last week and earned Collegiate Conference of the South Rookie of the Week honors. Garner shot 7-of-12 from the floor, including 7-of-10 from 3-point range, in Maryville's 101-73 victory against Greensboro. It was the team's only game of the week.
Garner helped the Scots to their first 100-point game since December 2018, and the team's 17 made 3-pointers against Greensboro tied a program record.
In two official starts thus far, Garner is averaging 19 points per game and shooting 57.9 percent from the floor. That includes a 10-of-15 effort from beyond the arc. In addition, Garner also started the exhibition game against Division I Middle Tennessee and scored 7 points in 20 minutes of action.
Garner for the season leads Maryville in both 3-point shooting percentage at 46.9 and 3-pointers made with 15. He is fourth on the team in scoring at 7.8.
