Maryville College Scots Earn Senior Day Victory Over Agnes Scott

Maryville picked up a strong win against Agnes Scott 69-50 on Saturday at the Cooper Athletic Center.
 
Courtney Carruthers scored a team-high 18 points while also leading the team with five assists. 
 
The Scots held a strong advantage in bench points, picking up 38 to Agnes Scott's 21. Madison Williams finished with a career-high 16 points while Courtney Farr picked up a career-high of her own with 13. Together they combined for 29 of MC's 38 bench points.
 
Maryville shot a season-best 45 percent (9-of-20) from beyond the arc. The Scots were 8-of-14 in the first quarter. Farr was 4-of-4 from three scoring 12 of her 13 points from deep. 

Agnes Scott scored four quick points in the first quarter, but MC quickly returned the favor with buckets from Olivia Cathers and Carruthers to tie it up. The Scots finished the first 10 minutes with a 15-2 run to make it 19-10 at the end of the quarter.
 
The second quarter was all Maryville, as the Scots scored a game-high 23 points. Farr hit three of her four threes in this quarter, scoring a team-high nine points. The score at the half was 42-24.
 
The third quarter was much of the same for both teams, with Maryville outscoring the Scotties 20-12. Carruthers led the squad with 8 points and two assists. This was MC's best quarter from the field, shooting 53.8 percent (7-of-13).
 
Agnes Scott found some life in the fourth quarter, outscoring MC 14-7 over the final 10 minutes of play. Kayla Jones led the Charge for the Scotties scoring seven of her nine points in the final quarter.
 
Maryville College Athletics recognized it's lone women's basketball senior before Saturday's game.
 
Anna Kate Bechman is a Biology major from Franklin, Tennessee. She was met by her parents Suzanne and Daniel Bechman; along with her brother Dawson and her sister Ginny Grace.
