The best season of Courtney Carruthers' career as a Maryville Scot is being noticed.

Collegiate Conference of the South women's basketball coaches named Carruthers to the 2022-23 All-CCS First Team on Wednesday after she averaged 17.2 points, good for third in the regular season in scoring. She sports the highest average of her career and has more rebounds, assists and steals than in any previous season.

The Maryville native passed the career 1,000-point mark back in November and currently stands at 1,317 heading into Wednesday night's CCS Tournament quarterfinal matchup at Belhaven.

"This is definitely an honor befitting her performance this year," Scots head coach Darrin Travillian said. We asked Court to take on an expanded role with the ball and as a leader. She absolutely responded for our team.

"I'm proud of what she's accomplished, and I'm excited to see what's next."

Emma Huskey was named All-CCS Second Team. Huskey leads the Scots with five double-doubles on the season, most recently turning the trick Jan. 28 at Belhaven when she scored a career-high 18 points and added 12 boards. Huskey ranks seventh in the CCS at 7.2 rebounds per game.

"Emma does the dirty work every single day for her team, and it's nice to see the league recognize the value in rebounding, defending and taking charges," Travillian said. "Emma also stepped up as a reliable scorer for her team, and she is very deserving of this honor."

Maryville's honoree on the CCS All-Sportsmanship Team was Kinsee LeFevers, who was nominated by the Scots coaching staff.
