Maryville Women's Track & Field continued winter indoor preparations with a third visit to the Sewanee indoor facility, this time for the Sewanee Indoor Invitational.

Brianna Jemison broke 8 seconds in the 55m preliminaries, posting 7.97 to advance to the finals. In that race, Jemison finished sixth with a clocking of 8.06. She placed fourth in the 200m with a time of 29.49

"We have a lot to grow on, a lot to work on heading into the outdoor season," Maryville assistant coach Hunter Miniard said. "But we are happy with Brianna breaking 8 seconds, especially since her strengths are in the 200m and 400m.

"She has stayed consistent in the 200 thus far, and her times are really going to start to pop when we move outside."

Middle-distance specialist Charity Southerland in her first indoor competition placed sixth in the 400m, giving great effort to post a time of 1:19.92.

Kelci Sparks had a personal record in the shot put, tossing 8.43 meters to lead the Scots.

Audrey Sanders posted personal bests in both the shot put with 8.18 meters and the weight throw with 9.92 meters.

"Brianna making finals in the 55m was big," Miniard said. "And Audrey had a really good meet with those PRs in shot put and weight throw."
